China University of Political Science and Law Legal Scientist Training Base

China University of Political Science and Law and Beijing LogosData Technology Co., Ltd. jointly established the Law & Science Studio in the Hainan Lingshui Li’an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone. Combining AI and law, the studio explores collaboration between industry, academia and research, and the use of AI in legal education and cross-border legal services.

The project draws on the legal expertise and faculty of CUPL’s School of Criminal Justice and the international focus of its Hainan International College, with specialist technical support from LoLR.AI. It connects AI-based teaching and training, cross-border justice services, and a specialist committee of legal scholars and practitioners.

With teaching and research at its core and industry services as an extension, the studio follows the principle that AI provides assistance while people exercise professional judgment. It connects practical training, cross-border legal services and academic expertise to explore new approaches to digital legal education and industry–academia collaboration.

Research areas

Simulated questioning with digital humans

Combining AI with investigation studies and criminal procedure, the system simulates a suspect’s psychology, evasive tactics and emotional responses in multi-round adversarial exercises. Students can practise repeatedly, making practical training more repeatable and easier to evaluate.

Cross-border compliance risk identification

Lanqiao, an AI agent for ASEAN cross-border legal services, addresses compliance challenges faced by Chinese companies expanding overseas. It assists in identifying compliance risks in cross-border operations and supports companies entering ASEAN markets.

Support with foreign legal information

A cross-border digital expert supports access to foreign legal information for legal service needs in ASEAN markets. AI assists the work, while qualified professionals exercise professional judgment.

Legal research and expert collaboration

The Law & Science Specialist Committee, led by CUPL and implemented by LoLR.AI, brings together lawyers, scholars and business representatives from China and abroad to provide expert support for practical training and cross-border services.
